OFFICINE PANERAI

PAM00663

Luminor 1950 3 Days Acciaio

Item is in stock.

When it comes to divers’ watches, PANERAI is the leading manufacturer. Their high quality and experience are also expressed in this strictly limited edition model, the PAM00663. In this case the main striking feature is on the dial. As this is not a matter of a PANERAI dial with a classic sandwich design - rather the Super-LumiNova® has been applied to the milled notches - the workmanship here is really faithful in every detail.

The PAM 663 features a crown protection bracket, to protect the winding crown. In WW2, this invention was of major importance to the war. Therefore top secret! And not well-known! This invention was not patented until 1955. But we have reason to believe this invention existed even before the second world war. But there are no records of it. As the name suggests, the Luminor 1950 3 Days Acciaio is made of polished stainless steel, just like the original. Case diameter is 47mm. PANERAI have fitted a dark brown “Ponte Vecchio” calf-leather strap with beige coloured stitching to this model ex works.

The perfect watch

Anyone looking for the simplicity of ta two-hand watch will take great pleasure in the PAM 663. For great attention has been paid to detail here. Behind the screwed sapphire glass base, the P.3000 calibre operates at a rate of 21.600 oscillations per hour. The mechanical, manually-wound mechanism gets by with just 164 components, yet delivers a power reserve of 3 days in two barrel drums, when fully wound.

An historic tradition

Innovation, perfection and history are paramount in all OFFICINE PANERAI timepieces. Nor has anything been left to chance in the PAM 663. The brown dial in this model has been developed with a nod to the historic models from the 1950’s. Even then, Guido Panerai’s precise divers’ watches were industry leaders. The luminous material invented for the dials was called “Radium” and at the time, it was radioactive, but this didn’t trouble anyone.

The world’s first divers’ watch

At the time, a Rolex or Cortebert pocket watch calibre was used an energy source. This fixed the size of the case at 47mm in diameter. Therefore, the PANERAI Radiomir 1950 3 Days Acciaio PAM00663 has been fitted with a 47mm thick steel case, just like the original. Every Paneristi will try to find one of these limited edition models to add to their collection. Which will certainly be a challenge.
