Luminor Base Left-Handed Acciaio

The most striking innovation in the PANERAI PAM 219 is the left-hand orientation of the classic elegant model. A special detail of the 1950 design of the historic PANERAI Luminor is the device protecting the crown, which was newly arranged for the right wrist. The black sandwich-dial, as well as the crystalline back of the models, differentiates the Luminor Base Left-Handed Acciaio and PAM 112 models from the other PANERAI Luminor watches which look similar at first glance.

The first generation of Luminor, designed in 1950, already had a steel case, shaped from a single block. The 44mm wide, large-spaced casing of the Luminor Base Left-Handed Acciaio is smartly offset through the narrow centre of the casing and the well-developed, strengthened straps. While the AISI 316L stainless steel case and the bezel are brilliantly polished, the functional, distinctive device protecting the crown provides a satin-finished steel surface. As a left-hander, you can wear all models, but this one is particularly suitable, as the clockwork can be wound with the left hand.

Unique, traditional construction

The left-hand orientation of the classic watch corresponded with the needs of maritime usage, where additional instruments had to be worn on the left arm. OFFICINE PANERAI focusses on a simple, timeless and elegant design of the Luminor. Following this standard, the PANERAI Luminor Base Left-Handed Acciaio PAM 219 possesses a black sandwich dial, which can be easily read in the dark due to the fluorescent glass underneath. Arabic numerals as well as the  PANERAI insignia stand out clearly against the background.

Unmistakable characteristics of a historical chronometer

An anti-reflective sapphire crystal 3.5mm thick protects the dial and movement against water up to a pressure of 30 bar (approx. 300 meters). Due to the transparent sapphire glass bottom, the OP X manual-winding calibre can be seen.

Quality made in Switzerland

The modification using so-called swan's neck tuning, reworked bridges, Glucydur® balance and a Incabloc® anti-shock device personalises the main movement plate of the former Rolex® pocket watch movement, with 21,600 alternations/hour and power reserve of 56 hours. A black calfskin strap with matching black seams size 24/22mm and a length of 115/75mm is fitted to the watch. An additional black rubber strap, suitable for the buckle, and a screwdriver for changing the strap come with the watch.
