With the PANERAI Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT Acciaio PAM 233, OFFICINE PANERAI have introduced a new timepiece to the Luminor product family. Having spent a few years developing watch movements in their in-house Swiss manufacturing site, this watch now features a PANERAI-exclusive P.2002 calibre movement. As the first movement in the P.2000 series, this is one of the main features of this chronometer.
The PAM 233 features a hand-wound mechanical movement, the PANERAI P.2002 calibre, an exclusive in-house development. It also offers an 8-day power reserve with a linear power reserve indicator, and has 247 separate components. Functionally, this timepiece is supremely multi-talented. As experts will note, it displays hours, minutes, small seconds, plus the date and a second time zone, as well as a 24-hour display and a seconds-reset feature.
Externally, the PANERAI PAM 233 housing, with its signature patented crown guard, is strongly reminiscent of the historic PANERAI brand heritage. This watch’s modernised design and fine detail will appeal to all connoisseurs of high-quality fine-art watches. The 44mm diameter case is made of satin-finished stainless-steel and has a polished-steel bezel.
The caseback is made of transparent sapphire crystal and affords an unobstructed view of the movement. The black dial with the date at 3 o'clock, and both seconds and a 24-hour display at 9 o'clock, is very easy to read, and also features a linear power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock. Protecting the dial of the Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT is a 2mm thick, anti-glare, watch-lens made of sapphire crystal glass. This watch is guaranteed water-resistant to 10 bar, which is around 100 meters.
Part of the Historic Collection, the Luminor 1950 8 Days GMT exhibits all the traditional PANERAI brand-features. It has a soft calf-leather strap with a large satin-steel buckle, plus an interchangeable rubber strap, steel screwdriver, and strap-replacement tool.
