Radiomir 1940 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Oro Rosso

PANERAI developed the Radiomir 1940 model, with its unique and daring combination of new technology and a striking design, in memory of the Guido Panerai's legendary diving watches. The cushion-shaped design of the PANERAI PAM 502 is reminiscent of the manufacturer's pre-war history and, combined with its high-quality materials, this distinctive watch movement is unmistakable when viewed from any direction.

When compared with other models, the PANERAI Radiomir 1940 PAM 502 is an eye-catcher with its cushion-shaped case – which later served to further develop the Luminor 1950. Even in the 1940’s, this style was considered to be particularly robust, and was designed by Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Montres Rolex SA, as part of a special collection exported to Florence for Guido Panerai.

High-quality materials and a cushion-shaped design

The brown dial features oversized, fluorescent Arabic numerals and typical PANERAI bar-shaped hour markers, which are one of the classic elements used by this manufacturer. A minute counter mono-push chronograph is at the 3 o'clock position, and small seconds plus a day/night indicator can be found at 9 o'clock. This is complemented by a power reserve display down at the 6 o'clock position, allowing quick overviews of the stopped time function. The design is completed with a high-quality brown alligator-leather strap featuring an adjustable buckle fashioned from 18K polished red gold.

The PANERAI Identity

The high-quality polished red gold case is 45mm in diameter and in addition, its screwed winding crown which carries the inscription OP, and the side-mounted mono-push chronograph button, are also made from red gold. The case is protected by a robust, transparent 1.4mm thick sapphire crystal which has an anti-reflective coating and furnishes a clear view even in difficult lighting conditions.

PAM 502 – A collector's watch

The PANERAI PAM 502 is a special watch, and its limited production only adds to its uniqueness: since this is a manufacturer's one-off edition, only 300 of this model will be produced – making this watch a rarity. Purchasers acquiring a PANERAI Radiomir Chrono 1940 Monopulsante 8 days GMT Oro Rosso will secure a watch combining elegance, history and a stylistically assured look, with a highly readable display and detailed workmanship of the utmost quality.
