Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech™ 3 Days Automatic

The Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech™ 3 Days Automatic highlights OFFICINE PANERAI's traditional pursuit of innovative ideas. For example, the case is based on a carbon compound which sets new standards in terms of its mechanical properties. The rotating bezel for calculation of immersion time and the robust extraction of the PAM00616 point unmistakably to its nautical background, justifying development of the model.

The history of the OFFICINE PANERAI brand has been one in which innovation has been combined with the highest standards in detailed manufacturing, both in terms of the housing and the watch technology itself. While maintaining the traditional identity of today's watch manufacturer, they set new impetus for the future.

Carbotech™ - a unique material

The visual appearance of Carbotech™ is one of a dark, dull and irregular structure. The 47mm housing, bezel and crown protection are made of a composite with thin carbon fibre plates under high pressure. The manual assembly of these plates means that each edition is an individual creation. This gives each example of the PAM 616 a unique appearance. Carbotech™ is distinguished as hypoallergenic, extremely resistant material and is even superior to titanium, due to its low weight.

The union with the sea - a deep-rooted passion

The advanced material that was used for the PAM 616, emphasises the character of the watch model. In the 1950’s, the Florentine watchmaking workshop of Guido Panerais developed a timepiece, the water-resistance robustness and precision of which meant that it was able to support the operations of the Italian navy. The large body of the Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech™ 3 Days Automatic is a reference to the historic Luminor. For use as a powerful diving watch, this timepiece is equipped with a rotating bezel. For security, this can be turned in only one direction to determine the time remaining under the water surface. A black dial borders the wide, flat bezel. Distinctly designed and decorated with luminous points, the dial continues the distinctive Italian design of the watch brand. The date is located at the 3 o'clock position - opposite the small second display. The second hand and some marks on this separate dial refer to the Panerai blue, which is used for the Carbotech™ lettering at the 6 o'clock position. The black, water-resistant rubber strap also has a colour accent in the form of the OP logo. Despite the tradition-conscious design, these design elements emphasise the individuality of this diving watch.

Watchmaking perfection complements excellent performance characteristics

The sporty impression of the PAM 616 supports the technology inside. Equipped with an automatic winding, the P.9000 drives the watch model. The calibre has two barrels that achieve a power reserve of three days. The Glucydur® balance performs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The calibre is reliably protected by a housing base of coated titanium, which significantly contributes to the fact that it is water-resistant to a depth of approximately 300 meters.
