OFFICINE PANERAI specialises in the development of exclusive timepieces. Guido Panerai from Florence laid the foundations. With his diver’s watches for the Italian navy, he was a pioneer in the field of luminous numerals for nautical instruments. The PANERAI PAM 625 has a Radiomir 1940 case made of 18K pink gold. The fixed strap lugs are another development, giving the strap additional stability on the lug.
The PANERAI Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso has a 45mm diameter case. The timepiece is powered by a mechanical manufacturer’s calibre with automatic winding. The calibre P.2003/10 beats at a rate of 28,800 oscillations per hour. The twin-barrel delivers a convenient power reserve of 10 days. This means the manufacturer calibre only needs to be wound 3 times a month. You can read the remaining energy level day or night on the linear power reserve display at the 6 o’clock position.
With a diameter of 45mm, the Radiomir 1940, reference PAM 625, is really well-proportioned. Unlike all the Luminor models from OFFICINE PANERAI, all Radiomir cases feature a screwed winding crown, but not the crown-protection bar. In the development of the PANERAI Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso a great deal of attention has been paid to elegance and a refined appearance. Therefore the watchmakers have fitted a sandwich-design dial. The specialist term for the surface of the dial is “sun-brushed”.
The PAM 625 includes a number of useful features. As well as hours, minutes and small seconds at the 9 o’clock position, the calibre P.2003/10 can also display a second time zone, with day and night display [AM/PM], power reserve and the date. In addition, the seconds-stop makes it possible to set the exact time to the second using an atomic clock, by pulling out the screwed crown.
The case is milled from a solid block of 18K pink gold. This gives the PANERAI Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso a very elite appearance. The gorgeous black dial with the delicate sun brushing makes this model look even more elegant. To go with this, OFFICINE PANERAI supply the PAM00625 with a delicate black alligator-leather strap with black stitching. The skeletonised automatic calibre P.2003/10, located on the caseback, has been particularly elaborately finished. Viewing the calibre through the sapphire crystal base is the preserve of the owner of the watch alone.
