PANERAI presented the new Radiomir Firenze Tourbillon GMT Titanio at the SIHH 2016. In this reference (as in the old tradition), the Florentine design on the titanium case has been hand-engraved. The extensive craftsmanship employed on the case can lead to delays in the delivery time for this model. But it’s definitely worth waiting for! OFFICINE PANERAI have built the calibre P.2005 into the PAM 669! It delivers the power to display the time using a manually-wound mechanism. The delivers enough stored energy for a power reserve of 6 days and this energy is stored in three twin mainspring barrels. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour. The mechanical mechanism P.2005 has been completely developed and produced at OFFICINE PANERAI.
Titanium is very popular as a case material, as it is compatible with the skin and pleasant to wear. The specific weight of titanium is lower than stainless steel, although titanium is much harder. This makes it ideal for PANERAI to use in the development of an exclusive timepiece. However, in the PAM00669, the 47mm titanium case is furnished with very elaborate engraving. With the precise craftsmanship of an engraver, the design is cut into the case in many small process stages. The engraved pattern corresponds to the typical Florentine coat of arms, and is repeated several times on the case.
The Radiomir Firenze Tourbillon GMT Titanio comes in a strictly limited edition of just 100 watches. This means the PAM 669 will have a very high collector’s value for many Paneristi. It’s the outstanding craftsmanship in the PAM 669 that makes this timepiece so special. The dark-brown, sandwich-design dial is rounded off by the fine sun-brushing. Depending on how the sun strikes it, it makes the dial shimmer in a particularly elegant way. OFFICINE PANERAI has paid particular attention to small details here. So the Florentine coat of arms is repeated on the dial at the 6 o’clock position. “FIRENZE” is written below.
The calibre P.2005 calibre used by OFFICINE PANERAI here also features small seconds at 9 o’clock, alongside minutes and hours. Day/night indicator at the 3 o’clock position, and a GMT function which is hidden behind the hour hand when not in use. The sandwich dial is finished with luminous Super-LumiNova material. This makes it very easy to read the exact time at night. This means the Radiomir Firenze Tourbillon GMT Titanio is not only elegant, but also very functional.
The fine materials and discreet design make the Radiomir Firenze Tourbillon GMT Titanio PAM 669 a real feast for the eyes of any Paneristi. The dark-brown alligator leather strap with the ecru-coloured stitching rounds the watch off harmoniously. In this watch, PANERAI have created an absolutely gorgeous watch, which not only reflects the inventions of Guido Panerai, but also underlines the craftsmanship of the Florentine watchmakers. That’s why the PAM00669 is a highly-prized collector’s item.
